The Blended Learning Team at Glasgow Caledonian University (CGU) have been working to support and develop approaches to fully online delivery. This has led to them producing a number of guides and resources outlining their suggested design methodology. They have been sharing these approaches within the University as they have evolved over the past year, and now to coincide with Open Education Week, they are making the guides available to us all
Both of these guides have been written within the learning and teaching context of CGU, however the general principles are generic enough to be used by others.

A Conversation About Instructional Design
Our next Discussion & Networking Meeting takes place on 30th March at The Melting Pot in Edinburgh from 2 till 4pm.
This is an opportunity to get together with other e-learning practitioners to discuss the latest news and projects from across our communities.
At our last couple of Discussion & Networking Meetings, we have covered a number of topics around creating "good e-learning", and one topic which came up regularly was Instructional Design. So to bring this topic to the fore, we are setting some time aside to cover the topic specifically.
During the conversation, we will discuss the instructional methodologies we use, the issues we have identified in using them and how we are looking to evolve our processes, especially taking into account new technologies which are becoming available to us, and ask:
"How do traditional instructional models fit into a world of chunks, learner produced content and content curation?"
This meeting is free for eLearning Alliance Members to attend. There is a £35 charge for non-Members.
The CDN Emporium 2016: Inspiring Ideas will take place throughout June, offering a week of thought-provoking and practical workshops, seminars and activities at the College Development Network offices in Stirling and in colleges across Scotland.
This year the CDN Emporium will explore ‘Developing the Workforce’ as a theme. This is an opportunity for you to share your inspiring ideas across the sector and beyond!
CDN are looking for event proposals that connect to the theme of ‘Developing the Workforce’ and which align with the vision of ‘Leading, Creating and Sharing.’
Success stories related to STEM curriculum areas, Employer Engagement and School College Partnerships are particularly welcome.
The Moodle Users Association announce that they are now accepting memberships that will be used to help drive the Moodle project.
The Association is a not-for-profit organisation, separate from the main Moodle company, where monies raised via membership subscriptions will be used to fund development projects voted on by the Members.
There are four levels of membership, starting at 100 AUS dollars (approx £49) for individuals going up to a Gold organisation membership of 10,000 + AUS dollars.
In taking out a membership, you are buying voting points, where each dollar of membership provides you with 1 voting point - so the higher your membership level, the greater your voting power.
The core business of the Association is to propose projects, develop specifications and to decide (by vote) which projects, membership funds will be used to develop, before handing the projects to Moodle HQ for development.
We're viewing the Association as an attempt by Moodle to raise additional funds without the need of going to the market to seek private equity or commercial revenue so they can remain independant as an open source community project.

The role of schools, colleges and training providers will be pivotal in implementing the Developing the Young Workforce strategy.
