Blue Eskimo has launched its ninth annual work and salary survey.

Nick Bate, director at Blue Eskimo, says that the survey provides a valuable and unique insight into work and pay within the UK’s learning sector. “There’s no other survey like it in the sector – offering both detailed and up-to-date information. This information just isn’t available anywhere else.”

As an incentive for people to take part, the company is offering the winner a choice of high-street vouchers, worth £300. The only qualification for taking part in the survey is that the person must work in a training, e-learning or learning & development organisation or learning department.

The survey is open now and can be taken online until mid-December and takes less than five minutes to complete. The results of the survey will be available early in 2017 – and the winner of the high-street vouchers should receive them in time for this Christmas.

The Learning Technologies Awards has published its shortlists for its upcoming 2016 awards programme with 200 individual organisations from across the world represented in eighteen awards categories.  Outstanding projects and products from over 15 different countries are among those who made the 2016 shortlist.  

Entries were received from a huge range of sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, transport, utilities, retail, leisure, and communications, as well as national and international government, major public and membership bodies and leading international education brands.

The Awards are split across 18 categories:

Shortlisted nominees now face the judging panel again in a series of presentations, taking place in London and online, during September and early October.  The winners will be unveiled at the gala evening on 30 November.

The title for this years eLearning Network annual conference is Learning in a Digital World.

The conference, newly named 'eLN CONNECT', is being held on November the 10th 2016 at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in central London.

The event takes a three 'stream' format, focussing on:

  • Tools & Technology and
  • the important concept of 'Making a Difference'.

Across the day there will be sessions from thought leaders, members and experts sharing their experience.

eCom Scotland are holding their next Breakfast Briefing on 1st September in the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow from 8.30 to 10.30 a.m.

The 8th Open Educational Resources Conference, OER17: The Politics of Open, will be held from 5 to 6 April 2017 at Resource for London, UK.

The City & Guilds Group has announced the creation of a new digital credentialing services business, following the acquisition of Makewaves. Digitalme – a not-for-profit organisation – will also become part of the City & Guilds Group. The new business will be known solely as Digitalme.

The use of digital credentials has grown significantly over the past few years. They provide an innovative way to recognise and validate individuals' competencies, while helping employers find the talented individuals their businesses need. Digitalme will offer a range of design, consultancy and platform services to enable education providers, employers and professional bodies to issue their own trusted credentials.

The City & Guilds Group has been expanding its capability in digital credentialing over the past year. In March 2016, it announced an investment into Credly, a US-based digital credentialing provider, as part of its New Venture Fund. Together, the investments in Digitalme and Credly will place the Group at the centre of the digital credentialing movement.
