The Campaign for Learning have been running Learning at Work week since 1999 with the aim of spotlighting the importance and benefits of learning and development at work.
Glasgow based learning management system Create-eLearning announced today that it has adopted the global brand name CreateLMS. It has also unveiled a new logo, and brand value statement “Great service, great price, great LMS.”
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science presented the first primary schools in Scotland to achieve ‘Digital School’ status with their award on 22/02/17 at Wormit Primary School.
To date, 21 Schools have achieved the award.

Titled "Realising Scotland’s full potential in a Digital World", the strategy sets out how the Scottish Government intends to place digital at the heart of everything it does from reforming public services to delivering economic growth.
The strategy includes:
- Creating the conditions which could lead to 150,000 working in digital technology jobs across Scotland by the start of the next decade.
- Ensuring that every premises in Scotland is able to access broadband speeds of at least 30Mbps by 2021
- A new digital schools programme
- A new round of funding for community digital inclusion projects and expand Scotland’s Digital Participation Charter
- Infrastructure that is secure and resilient against cyber attack
- A new Digital Growth Fund to address the current undersupply of digital skills.
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Constitution Derek Mackay said:
“Digital is transforming the way we live. It is connecting us faster than ever before while putting more power into the hands of service users. There is a huge opportunity here and now to ensure that people, businesses and organisations across Scotland, are given the tools and skills they need to harness this potential.
“Our vision is for Scotland to become even more digitally competitive and attractive. By developing our existing workforce and increasing our digital capabilities across society and the business community, we will ensure that our citizens have the opportunity to improve their digital skills with everyone who wants to get connected able to do so, and public services designed by and for citizens that are secure. This will in turn will have a positive impact on growing our economy.”

For more than two decades, ESA has been sharing vast amounts of information, imagery and data with scientists, industry, media and the public at large via digital platforms such as the web and social media.
A new Open Access policy for ESA’s information and data will now facilitate broadest use and reuse of the material for the general public, media, the educational sector, partners and anybody else seeking to utilise and build upon it.
Venture Marketing Group, the organisers of The World of Learning Conference & Exhibition have opened applications for proposals for their seminar programme that runs through-out the exhibition.
The Conference & Exhibition takes place on 17th & 18th October at the NEC in Birmingham.
To present a seminar, there's a cost of £600 (+ VAT), though those who have booked their exhibition stands will not be charged to present.
As with similar events, the seminars tend to be a big pull for those wandering around the exhibition, so if you have a message to put out to a diverse audience it might be worth considering. We would however be interested in hearing directly from anyone who has experience of presenting via the seminar format and get an indication of perceived return and value for money.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 5pm Friday 12 May 2017.
